Canon Pixma IP8720 - an ink tank cannot be recognized on the gray cartridge. Anyone else have this issue?

It says ink tank cannot be recognized. Haven't tried another cartridge yet, but this is super frustrating. Anyone else experience this before?

-Try reinstalling the cartridge after cleaning the contacts/Chip on the cartridge with a lint free cloth.

-make sure the contact points in the cartridge slot inside the printer is clean with no particles or debris.

If this still did not help,, will need to replace it
